Job description

Role : The Head of Manufacturing will lead all manufacturing operations for PVC and uPVC products, ensuring consistent product quality, efficient production, and adherence to safety and compliance standards. This role demands deep technical and operational expertise in polymer extrusion, moulding, and processing, along with strong leadership to drive cost efficiency, technological advancement, and sustainable practices.

Age : about 45 years

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Polymer Engineering (Masters preferred), with a Masters in Business Management, shall be appreciated.
  • 15 - 20 years of experience in polymer / plastics manufacturing, with proven expertise in PVC / uPVC extrusion and compounding.
  • Strong understanding of additives, stabilisers, and fillers used in PVC / uPVC formulations.
  • Proven track record in managing high-volume plants and workforce teams.
  • Proficiency in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and TPM.
  • ERP knowledge (SAP / Oracle) and familiarity with digital plant monitoring systems.

  • Strong technical knowledge of PVC / uPVC processing (extrusion, calendaring, lamination).

  • Key Deliverables (Performance Outcomes)

  • Achieve production targets for PVC / uPVC products within defined cost and time.
  • Maintain rejection / rework rates below 23%.
  • Improve production efficiency and reduce energy cost per ton annually.
  • Ensure 100% compliance with quality certifications and safety standards.
  • Implement digital monitoring for real-time plant performance.
  • Build a skilled workforce capable of supporting advanced extrusion technologies.
  • KRA : Strategic Leadership

    Define and implement a manufacturing strategy aligned with the growth of PVC / uPVC product portfolio.

    Set annual production, efficiency, and quality benchmarks.

    Build leadership capability within the plant teams.

    Drive operational culture of discipline, accountability, and performance.

    Build strong inter-functional team relationships with

    shared goals and an integrated corporate vision.

    Operational Management

    Oversee daily operations of extrusion, lamination, calendaring, and finishing lines.

    Develop and monitor production schedules based on sales forecasts.

    Ensure maximum capacity utilization across all PVC / uPVC plants.

    Lead maintenance teams for preventive and predictive equipment care.

    Resolve operational bottlenecks to ensure uninterrupted

    production

    Quality & Compliance

    Implement and monitor robust Quality Management

    Systems for PVC / uPVC production

    Ensure compliance with BIS, ASTM, ISO, and other polymer-related certifications.

    Conduct material testing (impact, tensile, UV resistance, fire rating).

    Monitor rejection / rework rates and implement corrective actions.

    Ensure strict compliance with health, safety, and

    environmental laws

    Financial & Cost Control

    Prepare and manage annual manufacturing budgets.

    Monitor cost-per-ton and cost-per-meter metrics.

    Optimize raw material usage (PVC resin, stabilizers, additives, calcium carbonate, fillers).

    Approve machinery CAPEX for new extrusion lines and automation.

    Drive scrap reduction and raw material yield improvement

    Innovation & Technology

    Introduce automation in extrusion and packaging lines.

    Drive adoption of digital dashboards, IoT-based monitoring, and ERP integration.

    Collaborate with R&D for new formulations, surface finishes, and profiles.

    Benchmark and implement global best practices in polymer manufacturing.

    Explore energy-efficient extrusion technology.

    Sustainability & ESG

    Implement eco-friendly compounding and production processes.

    Promote recycling of PVC / uPVC waste and scrap recovery.

    Reduce carbon footprint through optimized energy consumption.

    Ensure compliance with global environmental norms

    Workforce Development

    Train plant teams on extrusion technology, process safety, and advanced maintenance.

    Foster a safe workplace culture with zero accident targets.

    Build succession planning for key technical and supervisory roles.

    Drive skill development for operators and engineers on new technologies.

    Stakeholder Management

    Liaise with regulatory authorities for manufacturing licenses and safety approvals.

    Coordinate with supply chain for raw material procurement and finished goods dispatch.

    Maintain strong vendor relationships for machinery and additives.

    Represent manufacturing in management and board-

    level meetings.
