2. ORGANIZATION BACKGROUND :
The Right to Sight India (VISION 2020 INDIA) was established in 2004 as a national platform dedicated to eliminating avoidable blindness across India. Operating as a not-for-profit organization, it serves as a pivotal contributor to the global initiative led by the World Health Organization ( WHO ) and the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness ( IAPB ) to reduce preventable visual impairments. The organization focuses on advocacy, capacity building, networking, and strengthening service delivery in alignment with the National Programme for Control of Blindness & Visual Impairment ( NPCBVI )
This initiative represents a collaborative partnership among INGOs, NGOs, and Dr. RP Centre, AIIMS, working collectively to enhance eye care programs, exchange knowledge, and develop innovative solutions to deliver high-quality, comprehensive, and equitable eye care. 3. JOB DESCRIPTION / RESPONSIBILITIES :
Reporting to the Executive Committee of the Vision 2020 India, the Head – Operations & Development (HOD) will be responsible for leading and strengthening the organization’s operational systems and resource mobilization strategy. The role combines strategic oversight of administration, and human resources with active leadership in fundraising and partnership development. The position requires a dynamic, results-oriented professional who can bridge strategy and execution, ensuring sustainability, efficiency, and growth of the organization.
Key Job Responsibilities :
A. Resource Mobilization and Partnerships (40%)
(1) Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy, covering institutional donors, CSR, foundations, and individual giving.
(2) Lead proposal development, donor communication, and grant reporting processes in collaboration with program and finance officers.
(3) Build and maintain strong relationships with donors, partners, and stakeholders at national and international levels.
(4) Oversee the preparation of funding proposals, donor pitches, concept notes, budgets, and reports in collaboration with program and MEAL teams.
(5) Build long-term relationships with donors, CSR heads, and sectoral networks to ensure sustained engagement.
(6) Explore innovative financing models (e.g., impact partnerships, blended finance, donor consortiums).
(7) Strengthen the membership base for the Vision 2020 India and maintain the growth of new members.
B. Strategic Operations and Administration (30%)
(1) Oversee administrative, HR, and financial management systems to ensure efficiency, transparency, and compliance.
(2) Strengthen organizational policies, risk management, and governance frameworks.
(3) Supervise office, systems, event, and vendor management.
(4) Ensure smooth internal operations and coordination between program and support teams.
C. Organizational Development and Leadership (20%)
(1) Member engagement, program and communication implementation support
(2) Report to the executive committee, board engagement, and organizational growth.
(3) Mentor and supervise a small, high-performing operations and development team.
(4) Promote a values-driven, inclusive, and performance-oriented work culture.
(5) Oversee internal communications and staff development initiatives.
D. Representation and External Engagement (10%)
(1) Represent the organization in donor, network, and at key stakeholders.
(2) Contribute to policy dialogues, sectoral alliances, and visibility initiatives.
(3) Support knowledge-sharing, documentation, and impact communication efforts.
4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND ATTRIBUTES :
Qualification
Experience
(1) Minimum 10 years of relevant experience, including at least three to five years in a senior operations or fundraising leadership role within a non-profit, foundation, or social enterprise.
(2) Demonstrated success in fundraising and partnership management, with a proven record of mobilizing significant resources from diverse sources.
(3) Strong understanding of organizational management, financial systems, HR, and compliance frameworks in the Indian non-profit context.
