About the Role
The Contracts Manager will oversee all contract administration, tendering, claims, and compliance activities for a large IT Park project in Hyderabad. The role requires strong expertise in contract interpretation, vendor management, dispute resolution, and project documentation within major construction projects.
Key Responsibilities :
- Review tender documents and provide comments, clarifications, and recommendations to the client.
- Review contract terms for completeness, accuracy, compliance, and alignment with legal and organizational policies.
- Identify commercial, contractual, and operational risks and propose mitigation measures.
- Shortlist contractors based on qualifications, financial strength, and project experience.
- Conduct joint meetings with shortlisted contractors and client for final contractor selection.
- Prepare tender documents for various work packages as required for project execution.
- Prepare tender technical analysis reports and provide recommendations to the client.
- Manage and evaluate Extension of Time (EOT) requests and claims submitted by contractors.
- Review Bills of Quantities, work orders, and contractual documentation.
- Review bank guarantees (performance, advance, retention) and issue comments for corrections.
- Conduct monthly review meetings with contractors for labour compliance with support from labour consultants.
- Prepare potential variation order logs and update the client proactively.
- Review and issue final bill certificates, no due certificates, and closure documentation with QS team.
- Prepare monthly contract and billing status reports for management review.
- Attend weekly project progress meetings with client and contractors.
- Issue non-conformance letters and notices to contractors for contractual deviations.
- Advise the client on contractual obligations, risk exposures, and claim settlements.
Skillsets Required
Strong knowledge of construction contracts, tendering processes, and FIDIC / CPWD / standard contract conditions.Hands-on experience in major commercial or IT park construction projects.Expertise in contract drafting, interpretation, and negotiation.Strong understanding of BOQs, rate analysis, and procurement processes.Solid knowledge of claims management, EOT assessment, arbitration basics, and dispute resolution.Ability to assess contractor financials, technical capabilities, and performance metrics.Proficiency with MS Office, Excel-based reporting, and project documentation.Strong communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.Ability to identify risks and provide actionable recommendations.Experience coordinating cross-functional teams including QS, planning, labour compliance, and legal.(ref : iimjobs.com)
