Data Science Architect – Five Star Business Finance Limited – Job Description

Role Responsibilities

  • Report to the Head of Data Practice and lead all data-related initiatives and projects.
  • Conceive, plan, and prioritize data projects aligned with business strategy and goals.
  • Demonstrate direct and indirect business benefits of data projects; actively seek feedback from business stakeholders and senior management to ensure continuous alignment and improvements.
  • Manage the complete lifecycle of data projects, from problem definition through to deployment and monitoring.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to clearly define problem statements, goals, and objectives.
  • Lead model building activities :
  • Prepare input data and target variables.
  • Perform data profiling and pre-processing.
  • Develop initial / base models.
  • Train, baseline, and productionize models.
  • Gather feedback from the business and iterate on model improvements.
  • Document models, processes, and outcomes thoroughly.
  • Work closely with data engineers and application developers to maintain data cleanliness, integrity, and ensure comprehensive data integration from multiple sources.
  • Experiment with new modeling techniques and generative AI frameworks, including deployment of local SLMs; perform cross-validation to ensure model robustness and generalizability.
  • Analyze both structured and unstructured data, applying data mining techniques to uncover insights and opportunities that support strategic business decisions.
  • Mentor and guide a team of data scientists, data engineers, and BI developers to foster professional growth and high-quality delivery.
  • Explore and integrate generative AI technologies (e.g., large language models, generative adversarial networks) to enhance data-driven solutions, automate knowledge extraction, and improve predictive accuracy.

Role Requirements

  • 10 to 12 years of strong experience as a Senior or Lead Data Scientist with a proven track record of driving impactful data projects.
  • Domain expertise in the financial sector, specifically retail lending in the Indian market.
  • Deep understanding of artificial intelligence and machine learning principles, including generative AI models.
  • Strong statistical analysis skills with expertise in predictive and prescriptive modeling techniques.
  • Proficient in SQL and NoSQL databases, ensuring effective data access and manipulation.
  • Good working knowledge of programming languages and tools such as Python, R, and other relevant technologies.
  • Experience leveraging generative AI for problem-solving, automation, and enhancing model capabilities is highly desirable.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor and inspire multidisciplinary teams.
