Job Title : Senior Data Engineer – Databricks Expert (Part-Time Contractor)
Location : Remote
Commitment : 20 hours / week (Contract)

Job Summary :
We are looking for a highly experienced Data Engineer with deep expertise in Databricks to join us as a part-time contractor. You will play a key role in designing and developing scalable data solutions using Databricks and related technologies. Ideal candidates have led Databricks-focused projects, built complex data pipelines, and guided teams on best practices in data engineering and analytics workflows.
This is a remote, part-time (20 hours / week) opportunity suited for a professional who can independently contribute and provide architectural direction for Databricks-based data solutions.
Key Responsibilities :
Lead the design and development of scalable, secure, and high-performance data pipelines using Databricks.
Architect and implement data lakehouse solutions and ETL / ELT workflows on the Databricks platform.
Collaborate with business and data teams to deliver clean, reliable, and consumable datasets for analytics.
Optimize and maintain Apache Spark-based data processing jobs using PySpark and Delta Lake.
Build and manage workflows in Databricks Workflows and Job clusters.
Contribute to governance, data cataloging, version control, and best practices in data engineering.
Provide architectural guidance and mentorship to internal teams on Databricks adoption.
(Optional) Support integration with MSBI tools (SSIS, SSRS, SSAS) if required by the project.
Required Qualifications :
10+ years of overall experience in data engineering or data platform development.
Extensive hands-on experience in Databricks, PySpark, Delta Lake, and Spark SQL.
Proven experience leading Databricks-based projects and teams.
Strong understanding of data lake architecture, medallion architecture, and performance tuning in Databricks.
Proficient in Python for data manipulation and scripting.
Experience working with structured and semi-structured data (e.g., JSON, Parquet).
Strong communication skills and ability to work independently in a part-time capacity.
Preferred Qualifications :
Experience with Azure Data Lake, Azure Data Factory, or AWS equivalents.
Familiarity with Power BI or other BI tools for data consumption.
Knowledge of MS BI Stack (SSIS, SSRS, SSAS) is an added advantage but not mandatory.
