Job Summary :
We are seeking an API Automation Test Engineer with strong hands-on experience using Postman and other API testing tools to design, implement, and maintain automated test suites.
The ideal candidate will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability, performance, and scalability of our backend services and API interfaces.
This role requires a deep understanding of RESTful APIs, automation best practices, and test lifecycle management.
Key Responsibilities :
- Design and develop automated API test scripts using Postman (Collection Runner, Newman, or Postman CLI).
- Create and maintain automated regression suites to validate RESTful services across environments.
- Collaborate closely with developers, DevOps, and QA teams to integrate API testing into CI / CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps).
- Analyse API specifications (Swagger / OpenAPI) and business requirements to build test coverage plans.
- Write test cases, develop test data strategies, and identify edge cases for functional, negative, and load testing.
- Use tools like Newman to run automated test collections in headless environments.
- Investigate test failures, perform root cause analysis, and file clear, actionable bugs.
- Participate in Scrum ceremonies.
- Monitor and report on test results, coverage, and defect trends.
- Document reusable test procedures and contribute to QA process improvements.
Required Skills :
Bachelor's degree in computer science or Equivalent.2+ years of experience in API testing and automation.Proficient in Postman, with experience in scripting using Postman Pre-request Scripts and Tests (JavaScript-based).Solid understanding of REST APIs, HTTP methods, status codes, and JSON / XML payload structures.Experience with Newman or similar headless runners for automated Postman execution.Familiar with API spec tools like Swagger or OpenAPI.Nice to have Skills :
Experience with performance testing APIs using tools like JMeter, K6, or Locust.Comfortable working with version control systems (Git), and integrating with CI tools like GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps.(ref : hirist.tech)
