(Urgent Search) PTP / Network Timing Consultant (IEEE-1588) — Part-Time

Location : Hyderabad, India

About the engagement

Our edge Box is the campus time authority. We need a specialist to design and validate precise clock discipline across cameras, mics, and sensors using PTP (IEEE-1588), with NTP / chrony fallbacks, so cross-modal CEP remains trustworthy.

Time : 3–6 hrs / week during design / commissioning; ad-hoc thereafter. Location : Remote.

Works with : Edge Perf / Sync engineer, Rohit (platform), DSP consultant (for Δt budgets).

What you’ll do

• Design campus timing architecture : grandmaster selection (GNSS vs Box), boundary / transparent clocks, VLAN / QoS.
• Deploy and tune linuxptp (ptp4l, phc2sys, pmc) and chrony; document NIC / switch configs (Cisco / Arista / Juniper or equivalent).
• Establish acceptance tests : skew / jitter targets, wander, step response; create Grafana dashboards for drift and holdover.
• Write commissioning SOPs : firmware, servo parameters, delay mechanisms (E2E vs P2P), announce intervals, clock classes.
• Define failure modes & fallbacks : holdover behavior, NTP degrade, alarms when skew >

thresholds.
