draftsman's job is to create detailed technical drawings and plans for civil engineering projects, working from designs and specifications provided by engineers and architects. They use CAD software to produce 2D and 3D drawings, ensuring all plans comply with building codes and project specifications, and collaborate with engineers, surveyors, and construction teams to bring designs to life.

Key responsibilities

Create technical drawings : Draft detailed plans for civil engineering projects, including roads, buildings, and other infrastructure.

Use CAD software : Utilize computer-aided design (CAD) software like AutoCAD Civil 3D to produce and modify 2D and 3D drawings.

Collaborate with teams : Work closely with civil engineers, architects, and surveyors to ensure designs are accurate and meet project requirements.

Ensure compliance : Verify that all drawings and plans comply with relevant building codes, regulations, and project specifications.

Revise drawings : Make changes and corrections to existing drawings based on feedback from engineers and architects.

Maintain documentation : Keep project documentation accurate, organized, and up-to-date.

Provide project support : Assist with project reports, cost estimates, and other drafting-related tasks.

Essential skills and qualifications

Education : An associate degree or certification in drafting or a related field, such as Civil Engineering Technology, is often required.

Technical skills :
