The Role

As a System Administrator at Kyndryl, you'll solve complex problems and identify potential future issues across the spectrum of platforms and services. You'll be at the forefront of new technology and modernization, working with some of our biggest clients - which means some of the biggest in the world.

There's never a typical day as a System Administrator at Kyndryl, because no two projects are alike. You'll be managing systems data for clients and providing day-to-day solutions and security compliance. You'll oversee a queue of assignments and work directly with technicians, prioritizing tickets to deliver the best solutions to our clients.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

Minimum three years of experience in Core Mainframe Hardware Configuration, demonstrating proficiency in the areas listed below.

Hardware Configuration Definition (HCD / HCM)

HCD (Hardware Configuration Definition) : A command-line tool for setting up hardware configurations on z / OS systems.

HCM (Hardware Configuration Manager) : Provides a graphical interface for HCD, though it's less common nowadays.

Skills include :

• Creating and managing I / O Definition Files (IODFs)
• Configuring LPARs, channels, control units, and devices
• Handling dynamic changes to I / O configuration

LPAR Configuration

Involves creating and maintaining Logical Partitions (LPARs) using the IBM Z Hardware Management Console (HMC).

Skills include :

HMC (Hardware Management Console) Operations

Proficient navigation and use of the HMC interface for hardware and partition management.

Skills include :

I / O Configuration

Knowledge of FICON channels, control units, and device addressing.

Skills include :

Processor and Memory Configuration

Managing central processors (CP), zIIPs, and Integrated Facility for Linux (IFLs).

Skills include :

z / OS Sysplex and Coupling Facility Configuration

Skills include :

Dynamically Reconfigurable Systems

Adding or removing resources without requiring an Initial Program Load (IPL).

Skills include :

Disaster Recovery / High Availability Configuration

Skills include :

Hardware / Software Compatibility & Planning
