Summary :
Diesel Mechanics play a critical role in ensuring the reliable and safe operation of diesel-powered vehicles and equipment across commercial, agricultural, transport, and industrial sectors. This role involves diagnosing complex mechanical and electrical faults, performing comprehensive repairs and maintenance, and maintaining compliance with safety, environmental, and emissions standards. The ideal candidate is a skilled technician with hands-on experience in diesel engine systems, a strong commitment to safety, and the ability to work efficiently in dynamic workshop or field environments. Their expertise directly contributes to operational uptime, equipment longevity, and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities :
- Diagnose faults in diesel engines and associated systems, including fuel, exhaust, cooling, transmission, and electrical components.
- Repair, rebuild, or replace key components such as fuel injectors, turbochargers, cooling systems, filters, and starters.
- Conduct routine servicing tasks including oil changes, coolant flushes, and filter replacements.
- Maintain and troubleshoot vehicle and equipment electrical systems and control modules.
- Perform inspections and ensure compliance with safety, emissions, and environmental regulations.
- Utilize diagnostic tools, software, and testing equipment for accurate fault detection and performance evaluation.
- Maintain workshop tools, equipment, and workspaces; ensure proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials.
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors; communicate repair details, estimates, and recommendations to clients.
Requirements
Requirements :
Valid trade certificate or diploma in Diesel Mechanics, Heavy Automotive Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technician, or a closely related field.Formal apprenticeship or training in mechanical or diesel systems is highly preferred.Minimum 2–4 years of hands-on experience repairing and maintaining diesel engines and heavy machinery.Proven experience in diagnostics, engine rebuilding, and repair of industrial or commercial vehicles.Strong technical aptitude with in-depth knowledge of engine systems, hydraulics, electrical circuits, and transmission components.Proficiency in using diagnostic software, scanning tools, and interpreting technical schematics and service manuals.Exceptional attention to detail and strong problem-solving abilities.Physically fit with the ability to lift heavy components, work in confined spaces, and operate at heights when required.Commitment to safety protocols and adherence to environmental and emissions regulations.Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to explain technical issues clearly to clients and colleagues.Working Conditions & Other
Primary work location is a workshop or depot; occasional travel to job sites for emergency breakdowns or field service.Exposure to noise, fumes, dirt, and variable weather conditions, especially during field work.Flexible availability, including shift work, weekends, and on-call duties, depending on operational demands.Mandatory use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including gloves, ear protection, and eye protection.English language proficiency is required : valid PTE or IELTS certification must be provided.Benefits
