Job Role : We are seeking an experienced Database Administrator with strong PostgreSQL expertise and knowledge of containerized environments and distributed database systems. The ideal candidate will bring extensive DBA experience with a focus on PostgreSQL administration, along with working knowledge of Kubernetes orchestration and Cassandra.

Key Responsibilities

PostgreSQL Administration

Design, implement, and maintain PostgreSQL database systems across development, staging, and production environments
Perform database performance tuning, query optimization, and capacity planning
Manage database security, including user access controls, authentication, and encryption
Execute backup and recovery strategies, ensuring high availability and disaster recovery capabilities
Monitor database health, proactively identify issues, and implement solutions
Upgrade and patch PostgreSQL instances while minimizing downtime

Database Operations & Automation

Develop and maintain automation scripts using Bash for routine database tasks

Automate backup processes, monitoring alerts, and maintenance procedures

Create and maintain database documentation, runbooks, and standard operating procedures

Collaborate with development teams on database design and optimization

Participate in on-call rotation for database incident response

Kubernetes & Containerization

Support PostgreSQL deployments in Kubernetes environments

Work with containerized database solutions and understand their operational requirements

Collaborate with DevOps teams on database deployment strategies in Kubernetes

Cassandra Support

Provide support and maintenance for Apache Cassandra clusters

Assist with Cassandra performance monitoring and basic troubleshooting

Collaborate on data modeling and replication strategies

Technical Skills

▪ Databases : PostgreSQL (required), Cassandra (working knowledge), SQL

▪ Scripting : Bash (required), Python or other languages (preferred)

▪ Container Orchestration : Kubernetes (working knowledge), Docker

▪ Monitoring : Prometheus, Grafana, pgBadger, or similar tools

▪ Operating Systems : Linux (RHEL, Ubuntu, CentOS)

▪ Version Control : Git

▪ Cloud Platforms : AWS, GCP, or Azure (preferred

Required Qualifications

▪ Minimum 5 years of experience as a Database Administrator across various database platforms

▪ Minimum 2 years of hands-on PostgreSQL administration experience

▪ Strong expertise in PostgreSQL performance tuning, replication, and high availability solutions

▪ Proficiency in Bash scripting for database automation and operations

▪ Working knowledge of Kubernetes and containerized environments

▪ Working knowledge of Apache Cassandra architecture and operations

▪ Strong SQL skills and database query optimization

▪ Experience with database backup and recovery tools (pg_dump, pg_basebackup, WAL archiving)

▪ Experience with database monitoring and alerting tools

▪ Solid understanding of Linux / Unix operating systems
