Senior / Principal Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) Design Engineer (GCC)

We are expanding our successful Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) team in India with the appointment of a Senior / Principal Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) Design Engineer based in either Noida or Bangalore . This role will support our Middle East ITS team, delivering high-profile ITS projects across the GCC region.

As a senior member of the team, you will play a key role in the design, coordination, and delivery of ITS solutions—driving innovation, ensuring technical excellence, and mentoring junior engineers.

Your new role, what's involved?

  • Lead the design and development of traffic signalized intersections and advanced ITS solutions (including VMS, CCTV, Detection systems, Tunnel ITS, and communication networks).
  • Oversee and review ITS designs to ensure quality, compliance, and technical excellence, guiding junior engineers through the design process.
  • Conduct complex feasibility studies and technical evaluations, providing strategic input to shape ITS solutions and contribute in proposing value engineering solutions.
  • Prepare and validate design documentation at different project stages (Concept, preliminary and detailed), technical specifications, and drawings for major ITS projects.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate ITS designs seamlessly into large-scale transport and infrastructure developments.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to clients and project teams throughout all stages of the project lifecycle.
  • Stay at the forefront of ITS innovation, ensuring designs adopt the latest technologies and comply with GCC / International standards (e.g., NFPA 502, AASHTO, local authority guidelines).
  • Contribute to project management, supporting the planning of timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure successful delivery.
  • Support knowledge-sharing and mentoring, helping to build a strong and future-ready ITS capability within WSP India.

We'd love to hear from you if you have :

  • A degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related discipline.
  • 5–8 years of experience in the design and delivery of Intelligent Transport Systems, preferably with international or Middle East project exposure.
  • Proven expertise in ITS technologies, including traffic signals, VMS, CCTV, incident detection, communication networks, and tunnel ITS systems.
  • Proficiency with ITS and traffic signal design tools, AutoCAD, and relevant software platforms.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to provide innovative and practical design solutions.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with experience mentoring or guiding junior team members.
  • A proactive approach to continuous learning, with awareness of emerging ITS technologies and industry best practice.
