Role Overview

The Data Science team at Meesho is looking for a Lead Data Scientist to drive high-impact initiatives across multiple charters. This role involves leading a team of data scientists, partnering with product, engineering, and business teams to transform raw data into scalable solutions. The position combines deep expertise in machine learning and data systems with strategic problem-solving to shape the future of the platform.

Key Responsibilities

Own and deliver solutions across multiple charters by formulating well-scoped problem statements

Mentor a team of data scientists (DS2s and DS3s) with project planning and execution

Design and optimize key user journeys by identifying user intents and behavioral patterns

Collaborate with ML engineers and big data teams to build scalable ML pipelines

Continuously track and improve model performance using state-of-the-art techniques

Lead experimental design for usability improvements and user growth

Contribute to system-level thinking by enhancing internal tools and frameworks

Partner with engineering to ensure data reliability and compliance

Explore new areas of opportunity through research and data mining

Communicate findings clearly with stakeholders and create technical documentation

Conduct research collaborations with premier colleges and universities

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or related field

6–8 years of experience in data science

Strong track record of building and deploying ML solutions at scale

Deep understanding of supervised, unsupervised, and semi-supervised learning

Strong foundations in statistics and linear algebra

Exposure to deep learning concepts and architectures

Proficiency in Python and SQL

Experience with large-scale data processing using Apache Spark, Hadoop / Hive, or cloud platforms

Strong programming fundamentals and production-ready code experience

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

Experience with A / B testing and experimental design

Mandatory Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or related field

6–8 years of experience in data science

Strong track record of building and deploying ML solutions at scale

Deep understanding of core ML techniques

Strong foundations in statistics and linear algebra

Proficiency in Python and SQL

Experience with large-scale data processing platforms

Strong programming fundamentals

Experience with A / B testing and experimental design

Preferred Requirements

Master's degree is a plus

Experience with reinforcement learning or sequence modeling techniques

Contributions to ML libraries, internal tools, or research publications
