Requirements
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Purchase Engineer to join our procurement and supply chain team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three years’ experience in purchasing, vendor management, and material sourcing , combined with a strong technical understanding of engineering products and components. This role requires close coordination with suppliers, internal departments, and project teams to ensure timely procurement of high-quality materials at competitive costs.
As a Purchase Engineer, you will be responsible for managing the end-to-end procurement process , from identifying requirements and sourcing vendors to negotiating contracts and ensuring timely delivery. You will also play a key role in driving cost savings, improving vendor performance, and supporting new product development through strategic purchasing initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Procurement Management
- Handle day-to-day purchasing activities, including preparing and issuing purchase orders, quotations, and contracts.
- Identify reliable vendors and suppliers, evaluate quotations, and ensure cost-effectiveness without compromising quality.
- Develop and maintain a robust supplier database to support business requirements.
- Vendor Development & Relationship Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors to ensure consistent supply and service quality.
- Conduct vendor evaluations and performance reviews to improve sourcing efficiency.
- Negotiate payment terms, lead times, and service agreements to secure favorable conditions.
- Material Sourcing & Cost Optimization
- Source raw materials, equipment, and components based on engineering specifications and project needs.
- Conduct market research to identify new suppliers and alternative products for cost reduction.
- Support value engineering and cost-saving initiatives across procurement activities.
- Coordination & Collaboration
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders such as engineering, production, quality, and finance teams to align procurement activities with business objectives.
- Ensure timely availability of materials to avoid production delays.
- Support new project development by sourcing materials and services as per design requirements.
- Compliance & Process Improvement
- Ensure procurement activities comply with organizational policies, contracts, and regulatory guidelines.
- Maintain accurate documentation of purchase orders, contracts, and supplier correspondence.
- Identify process gaps in purchasing workflows and recommend improvements for efficiency.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field .3+ years of proven experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain functions, preferably in a manufacturing or engineering environment.Strong knowledge of procurement processes, vendor development, and contract negotiations .Familiarity with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar) and proficiency in MS Excel and reporting tools.Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to evaluate supplier proposals and make data-driven decisions.Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work under pressure.
