  • Title : FinanceOfficer | Junior Financial Accountant
  • Rate : $68 per hour including super
  • Start Date :   ASAP
  • Duration : 12 Month intial contract
  • WFH : 3 days home and 2 from office
  • One of Sydney’s leading universities is seeking a motivated Finance Officer / Junior Financial Accountant to join their collaborative finance team on a 12-month contract. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain exposure to both financial accounting and systems accounting within a dynamic, multicultural environment.

    In this role, you will play a key part in ensuring the accuracy of financial transactions, maintaining the general ledger, and supporting process improvements through automation tools.     Key Responsibilities

    Financial Accounting (Approx. 80%)

    • Process financial transactions including accruals, journal entries, and reconciliations
    • Maintain general ledger accounts and assist with month-end close processes
    • Perform and review accounts payable and receivable transactions
    • Prepare regular financial reports, ensuring compliance with Australian Accounting Standards
    • Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis to support strategic decision-making
    • Systems Accounting (Approx. 20%)

    • Maintain system profiles and security access for the chart of accounts and reporting applications
    • Ensure procurement application security is current and accurate
    • Support automation tools (e.g. Power Automate, bots) to streamline accounting workflows
    • About You

    • Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (progress towards CA / CPA highly desirable)
    • Advanced Excel skills (essential), with experience in PeopleSoft or similar large ERP systems preferred
    • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
    • Excellent communication skills and a proactive, problem-solving mindset
    • Experience with automation (Power Automate / Macros) and Smartview is an advantage
