About the Role
We’re hiring a detail-oriented MEP (Mechanical, Electrical & Plumbing) Design Engineer to produce code-compliant, construction-ready deliverables for residential and commercial projects across California and Texas . You’ll work closely with our PE partners and PMs to develop coordinated MEP permit sets, energy compliance reports, photometric studies, PV designs, and life-safety layouts.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop MEP permit sets (schematic → DD → CD) for residential & commercial projects
- California Title 24 (T-24) compliance reports (CBECC / EnergyPro workflows)
- COMcheck / REScheck energy code compliance submittals
- Photometric studies and lighting layouts using DIALux with fixture schedules & cut sheets
- PV system designs (single-line, layout, wire / conduit sizing, interconnection, placards)
- Manual J / S / D (load calcs, equipment selection, duct design) based on ACCA standards
- Fire sprinkler (per NFPA 13 / 13R / 13D) and fire alarm layouts (per NFPA 72) for permit
- Bluebeam review cycles : respond to markups, AHJ comments, and contractor RFIs
- Interdisciplinary coordination (architecture / structural), clash checks, and revision control
Required Qualifications
5+ years MEP design experience on U.S. projects , including CA & TX jurisdictionsStrong Revit MEP (BIM modeling, families, sheets) and AutoCAD MEP (2D production)Proficiency with DIALux (photometrics) and Bluebeam Revu (markup & QC)Working knowledge of applicable codes / standards : NEC , IMC / IPC / IFC , IECC , ASHRAE 90.1 , NFPA series; California Title 24 (Part 6 / 11) adoptions; Texas IECC adoptionsDemonstrated experience producing permit-ready CD sets and responding to AHJ commentsSolid grasp of Manual J / S / D methodology and report generationClear written / spoken English; comfortable collaborating across time zonesNice to Have
PV design tools (e.g., HelioScope , PVsyst, or equivalent)Navisworks / Clash coordination, Dynamo for Revit automationExperience with mechanical / electrical load calcs software (e.g., Elite, Trane Trace, HAP)Familiarity with CBECC-Com / Res or EnergyPro for T-24What You’ll Deliver
