Principal Network & Security Engineer (Cisco & Palo Alto)

Job Summary :

We are seeking a highly experienced and technically authoritative Principal Network and Security Engineer with over 10 years of experience to lead the design, deployment, and operation of our enterprise-level network and security infrastructure. This role is critical for securing and optimizing our network environment, requiring deep expertise in both Cisco and Palo Alto Networks firewalls, routing, and switching technologies.

Key Responsibilities :

Network Security Design & Architecture :

Design, architect, install, configure, and deploy robust Extranet solutions and other complex network segments.
Lead the planning and execution of strategic firewall migration projects, specifically from Cisco to Palo Alto Firewalls.
Recommend and implement optimizations to the environment to significantly improve performance, security, and delivery & Maintenance :
Perform advanced code upgrades for Firewalls (Palo Alto / Cisco), Routers (ISR / ASR / C8500), and Nexus Switches (9300 / 9500).
Provide 3rd Level escalation support, advanced troubleshooting, and effective management during major network outages.
Conduct meticulous peer reviews of change controls to ensure stability and adherence to best practices.

Automation & Standardization :

Develop and implement scripting / automation solutions to streamline operational tasks, deployments, and configuration & Consulting :

Partner with technical peers and cross-functional teams to create comprehensive, robust network solutions.

Provide expert technical consultation to internal customers, assisting them in finding optimal network solutions for complex business requests.

Support & Training :

Provide technical training and knowledge transfer to Service Desk, Operations, and other relevant parties.

Be available for after-hours, weekend, and holiday support as required for critical operations and deployments.

Network Security & Firewalls (10+ years) :

Palo Alto Networks : Expert proficiency in setup, configuration, management, and troubleshooting of high-end models (e.g., 3400, 3800, 5200, 5400 series).

Palo Alto Management : Deep expertise with Panorama and cloud-based security management via Prisma Access / Strata Cloud Manager, including policy creation and scripting.

Cisco Firewalls : Extensive experience with the Cisco security portfolio, including Firepower (2100, 3100, 4100, 9300 series), Meraki MX appliances, and legacy ASA / FTD deployments.

Cisco Security Management : Proficiency with Firepower Management Center and the Meraki Administrative Console.

Routing & Switching :

Expert-level knowledge of Cisco routing and switching platforms :

Routers : ISR1100, ASR100x, C8500 series.

Switches : Nexus 9300 and 9500 series.

Automation : Proven skills and experience in scripting and automation (e.g., Python, Ansible, etc.).

Qualifications & Attributes :

Experience : Minimum of 10+ years in Network Security and / or Firewall responsibilities.

Soft Skills : Exceptional written and verbal communication, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and flexibly across diverse teams and geographic locations.

Preferred Qualifications :

Certifications :

PCNSE (Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Engineer) certification.

Cisco DevNet certification (or equivalent automation certification).

Project Management certification (e.g., PMP) is a bonus.
