About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Oracle to PostgreSQL Migration Engineer to lead end-to-end database migration projects. The role involves analyzing existing Oracle environments, designing migration strategies, executing schema and data conversions, and optimizing performance on PostgreSQL. The ideal candidate will have strong database expertise, hands-on migration experience, and the ability to collaborate with application and infrastructure teams to ensure smooth transition with minimal risk.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement migration strategies from Oracle to PostgreSQL.
  • Perform schema conversion, data migration, and code rewriting (PL / SQL to PL / pgSQL).
  • Optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and indexes for PostgreSQL performance.
  • Use migration tools such as ora2pg, AWS SCT, AWS DMS, or custom scripts .
  • Troubleshoot and resolve migration-related issues including data integrity and compatibility.
  • Collaborate with application teams for validation and integration testing.
  • Implement best practices for PostgreSQL backup, recovery, and disaster recovery.
  • Document processes, guidelines, and provide knowledge transfer to stakeholders.

Required Skills

  • Strong expertise in Oracle Database (SQL, PL / SQL, performance tuning) .
  • Hands-on experience in PostgreSQL administration and development .
  • Proven track record of Oracle to PostgreSQL migrations .
  • Familiarity with migration and automation tools ( ora2pg, AWS SCT, DMS ).
  • Knowledge of Unix / Linux scripting (Shell, Python, etc.) .
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and troubleshooting skills.

  • Experience with cloud-based PostgreSQL (AWS, Azure, GCP) .
  • Exposure to Agile / DevOps environments .
  • Knowledge of ETL tools and data pipelines .
  • PostgreSQL certifications or Oracle OCP certification.
