We are looking for an experienced Senior Merchandiser (8+ years) who can independently manage customer accounts and ensure seamless execution across vendors and factories.
Role Overview
The Senior Merchandiser will be the operational anchor between customers, factories, fabric mills, trim suppliers, and internal teams. The role requires strong communication, deep product knowledge, and an execution-first mindset. Precision, ownership, and speed are essential.
Key Responsibilities
1. Customer Management
Serve as the primary point of contact for all assigned buyers.
Interpret tech packs, brand expectations, fits, and quality standards accurately.
Ensure timely communication on sampling, costing, approvals, and production status.
Manage order confirmations, T&A calendars, and ensure on-time execution.
Coordinate proto, fit, SMS, PPS, and TOP submissions.
Document customer comments clearly and pass them to vendors without gaps.
2. Vendor & Factory Management
Collaborate with garment factories, fabric suppliers, and trim vendors to ensure seamless execution.
Communicate customer expectations clearly and ensure factory teams understand requirements.
Track WIP for fabric, trims, production, finishing, and packing with high accuracy.
Create & validate BOMs, manage fabric bookings and trim indents.
Conduct weekly production meetings and resolve execution bottlenecks.
Build and maintain strong vendor relationships to ensure quality and timely delivery.
3. Costing, Planning & Execution Excellence
Prepare detailed costing sheets and negotiate rates with vendors wherever required.
Plan production timelines and monitor critical path adherence.
Manage POs, payments, fabric bookings, and vendor coordination.
Handle order amendments, comments, and re-approvals seamlessly.
Ensure zero information gaps between customer, factories, and internal teams.
4. Data, Documentation & Reporting
Maintain all documentation : order sheets, BOMs, comments, approvals, T&A, and WIP trackers.
Share accurate weekly MIS reports with management and customers.
Track and report OTIF, fabric utilization, efficiency, and potential risks.
Ensure documentation is audit-ready and compliant at all times.
5. Quality & Compliance Coordination
Coordinate inline, midline, and final inspections with QA teams.
Ensure factories are aligned with customer quality standards, product specifications, and compliance norms.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Must-Have Experience
Minimum 8+ years in merchandising within a buying house, export house, or garment manufacturing environment.
Experience handling multiple customers and multi-category / high-volume product ranges.
Technical Skills
Strong understanding of garment construction, fabrics, trims, and manufacturing processes.
Ability to interpret tech packs, BOMs, size specs, and fit comments.
Proficiency in Excel, costing models, T&A planning, and WIP management.
Knowledge of fabric lead times, production flow, vendor capabilities, and MOQ structures.
Soft Skills
Excellent verbal and written communication.
Consistent follow-up discipline and strong organizational ability.
High ownership, accountability, and the ability to operate independently.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to perform under pressure.
