Job description

Finance Manager will be responsible for implementing and establishing controls to manage the finance function as well as improving the reporting and visibility to key stakeholders. They will work collaboratively whilst challenging what we do daily to ensure we are always improving.

Key Accounting & Reporting :

  • Lead the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with UK GAAP / IFRS.
  • Ensure that VAT and tax filings (P11d, PSA, CT) are completed and filed on time
  • Manage the month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and accruals.
  • Upload trial balances and month-end financial results into the group reporting system (Tagetik) and respond to ad hoc information requests from Group Finance.
  • Assist with US entity filings in conjunction with the external accountant and provide ownership of processes such as payroll
  • Maintain the general ledger and oversee all aspects of balance sheet integrity.
  • Prepare and review statutory accounts and liaise with external auditors during audits.
  • Ensure compliance with all financial, legal, and tax obligations, including VAT, corporation tax, and other regulatory filings.

Financial Control & Compliance :

  • Develop and maintain strong internal controls, policies, and accounting procedures.
  • Identify areas for improvement and drive process efficiencies in financial operations.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies and accounting standards, supporting audit readiness throughout the year.
  • Act as a key point of contact for external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory bodies.
  • Treasury & Cash Management :

  • Oversee cash flow forecasting, bank reconciliations, and payment processes.
  • Produce, monitor and implement invoicing schedules to improve cashflow and allow for timely invoicing post enrolment
  • Manage working capital effectively and support investment and funding decisions.
  • Ensure appropriate treasury controls and compliance with banking requirements.
  • Team Support & Collaboration :

  • Manage and support junior finance staff with technical accounting queries and development.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with other teams to ensure financial accuracy and transparency (e.g. insurance, healthcare etc. where financial guidance required)
  • Skills and Experience :

  • Fully Qualified Accountant CIMA / ACCA / ACA (or country equivalent)
  • 8+ years experience in financial accounting or audit, ideally within a similar-sized organisation or professional services background. (Previous experience working within a group and multi- location / currency environment desirable)
  • Strong technical knowledge of UK GAAP and / or IFRS
  • Proven experience managing month-end close, statutory reporting, and audit processes.
  • Strong commercial awareness and ability to add value
  • Excellent attention to detail and a proactive, problem-solving mindset
  • Advanced Excel and familiarity with modern accounting systems (e.g., Xero, NetSuite, Sage
  • Intacct)

  • Experience in managing or mentoring junior staff
