Full-Stack WordPress Developer

Onni Group is seeking a skilled WordPress Developer to join our growing technology team. This is a hands-on development role focused on building, customizing, and maintaining WordPress websites and applications. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in WordPress theme and plugin development, front-end technologies, and database management — combined with an eye for user experience (UX), accessibility, and performance optimization.

This is a remote role based in India, collaborating closely with our Canada- and US-based systems teams. The position is ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, can work independently, and has excellent technical and communication skills.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following :

• WordPress Development
• Design, develop, and maintain responsive WordPress websites.
• Customize themes, templates, and plugins to meet business needs.
• Build custom plugins and extend WordPress functionality where required.
• Experience supporting headless WordPress setups.
• Ensure solutions are optimized for performance, SEO, accessibility, and security.
• User Experience (UX) & Front-End Development
• Translate design mockups
• 8into high-quality WordPress implementations.
• Ensure websites are intuitive, user-friendly, and consistent across devices.
• Apply UX best practices to enhance navigation, readability, and site interactions.
• Maintain compliance with WGAG accessibility standards.
• Conduct cross-browser and cross-device testing.
• Conduct usability testing and resolve UX pain points.
• Front-End & Back-End Integration
• Implement modern front-end frameworks (HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, React, or similar).
• Integrate APIs and third-party services into WordPress.
• Manage and optimize MySQL databases, queries, and schemas.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, ensuring seamless user experience.
• Deployment & Maintenance
• Deploy and manage websites in cloud hosting environments (e.g., AWS, Azure, or similar).
• Implement CI / CD and version control using Git, Bitbucket, or GitHub.
• Ensure regular updates, backups, and security patches are applied.
• Monitor performance, uptime, and apply optimizations as needed.
• Collaboration & Process
• Work with design, marketing, and business teams to understand requirements and deliver solutions.
• Translate business needs into intuitive, user-friendly website features.
• Document processes, custom code, and best practices for future maintainability.
