Senior PHP Developer

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior PHP Developer to join our engineering team. You will play a key role in designing, developing, and maintaining robust web applications while mentoring junior developers and contributing to architectural decisions.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain scalable PHP applications and RESTful APIs

Write clean, well-documented, and testable code following best practices and coding standards

Lead technical discussions and contribute to architectural decisions

Conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members

Mentor junior and mid-level developers, fostering their growth and development

Optimize application performance, security, and scalability

Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Product, Design, and QA

Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues in production environments

Participate in sprint planning, estimations, and agile ceremonies

Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends

Required Qualifications

5+ years of professional PHP development experience

Strong expertise in modern PHP frameworks (Laravel, Symfony, or similar)

Proficient in object-oriented programming (OOP) and design patterns

Extensive experience with MySQL / PostgreSQL and database optimization

Solid understanding of RESTful API design and development

Experience with version control systems (Git)

Knowledge of front-end technologies (HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript)

Familiarity with testing frameworks (PHPUnit, Pest)

Understanding of web security best practices (OWASP, SQL injection prevention, XSS)

Experience with Linux environments and command-line tools

Strong problem-solving and analytical skills

Excellent communication and teamwork abilities

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with modern JavaScript frameworks (Vue.js, React, or Angular)

Knowledge of Docker and containerization

Familiarity with CI / CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions)

Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure)

Understanding of microservices architecture

Experience with message queues (RabbitMQ, Redis)

Knowledge of Elasticsearch or similar search technologies

Contributions to open-source projects

Experience with Agile / Scrum methodologies
