- Collaborate with the producer and / or director to determine the desired outcome of the project
- Review raw footage and select the best shots to use in the final product
- Trim footage segments and put together the sequence of the video
- Determine the appropriate music, sound effects, and graphics to be used in the video
- Edit the video to ensure a smooth flow and appropriate pacing
- Add special effects, animations, or other enhancements as needed
- Ensure that the final product meets technical standards for broadcasting or online streaming
- Remain up-to-date with new editing technologies and techniques
