Rolling Stock Expert (Mechanical) - Resident Engineer

Job descriptionLead the mechanical design review and validation processes under the Rolling Stock Contract Conduct detailed assessments of rolling stock mechanical systems including carbody, bogie, brake and pneumatics, coupler, doors, HVAC, gangway, gearbox, and related subsystems Evaluate design aspects related to crashworthiness, bogie dynamics, FEA for carbody and bogie, fire safety, pneumatic circuits, and wheel-rail interaction Review welding processes for stainless steel carbodies and bogie frames to ensure compliance with engineering and quality standards Ensure all mechanical design elements meet the relevant EN, UIC, and BS standards, and demonstrate thorough knowledge of their application Participate in and lead design workshops with contractors and clients, providing technical guidance and ensuring alignment with project goals Review and verify design documents, test reports, and calculations provided by contractors Understand and guide through statutory approval processes, including RDSO trials applicable to Indian Metro systems Objectively assess contractor planning and execution related to manufacturing, testing, and system integration Oversee quality assurance at manufacturing sites, focusing on components such as carbody shells and bogie frames Witness and evaluate rolling stock type tests including structural tests, fatigue tests, EN 45545 fire tests, brake dynamometer tests, coupler tests, and climate chamber evaluations Prepare high-quality technical reports and presentations independently
