Job Summary
This role executes the art and design strategy to be in line with the editorial strategy set by the HoEC AD
Areas of Responsibility (Key Result Areas)
- To lead the design management across print and digital platforms exhibiting best-in-class use of key design skills such as typography, application of color theory and image selection.
- To be responsible for the set production to meet specified deadlines.
- Art direction and management of photos for the magazine maintaining consistency and developing new ideas.
- Commissioning illustrations and sourcing.
- Working with Global Design Director, HoEC and Managing Editorial Associate to create dynamic and exciting covers with a strong commercial awareness.
- Managing the budget alongside the HoEC for all aspects of the design process
- Ensure that the brand image and brand design values are consistent and in line with the publishing strategy.
- Producing on-brand supporting materials for marketing and other brand extensions.
- To work with internal employees including the Editorial team, Publisher, Managing Editor, Marketing teams and other departments.
- To accommodate multiple rounds of feedback from the global design team and the AD India HoEC, while ensuring layouts are designed and closed within deadlines.
- Finding innovative and cost-effective solutions for layouts to ensure they are not repetitive.
- Working closely with all stakeholders to ensure shoots are meeting the global design language, coordinating with the photographer along with the bookings editor to find solutions to elevate shoots and layouts and moodboards.
- Being available to work during office hours and being present on critical, high-stakes shoots to ensure looks are being shot within time and adhered to AD design language.
- Liaise with external contributors and suppliers when required.
- To manage freelance art contributors when required.
- Ensure that all design administration is accurate to ensure contributors and image rights are retained.
