As the Operations Head, you will oversee and organise daily operational and production activities aligned with the overall business planning at the Alrode fibre site. This includes managing all production resources and activities efficiently to meet the company s goals and objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate plant and equipment safely, ensuring no safety control or system is bypassed
- Manufacture products according to all specified control parameters to meet production standards
- Develop a weekly / monthly production plan to meet demand, maximizing OTIF (On-Time In-Full) and OR (Order Rate)
- Collaborate with the planner to procure and issue materials as per the BOM (Bill of Materials) to meet the production plan
- Identify and address deviations from the BOM, adjusting for over / under-consumption
- Regularly update BOMs to reflect performance accurately
- Plan manpower needs in line with the production plan, maintaining controls on overtime
- Participate actively in stock-taking activities, implementing strong control measures
- Drive efficiency initiatives in material waste reduction, manpower / machine productivity, utility optimisation, and process improvement
- Lead quality improvement initiatives
- Work with the engineering team to implement preventive maintenance, extending MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures), reducing MTTR (Mean Time to Repair) and lowering maintenance costs
- Conduct plant trials for new products or product improvements as required
- Perform skill gap analysis for the team and blue-collar employees with HR and create a skill upgrade plan
- Use SAP for production reporting and data analysis
- Troubleshoot production, maintenance and quality issues, identifying root causes
- Track and monitor project progress
- Monitor plant CU (Capacity Utilisation) and recommend and implement capacity-debottlenecking projects
- Manage production costing
- Provide on-the-job training as needed
- Perform trend monitoring and statistical analysis
- Address worker grievances promptly
- Maintain accurate employee records, such as timesheets and attendance registers
Who are we looking for?
Education :
Degree or diploma in Production / Operations Management and / or Engineering
Experience :
Minimum of 5 years of supervisory or management experience in a manufacturing environment
Skills :
Polymer / extrusion experience is essential
Experience in FMCG manufacturing
Talent development and people management skills
Knowledge of operational machinery and maintenance
Basic organisational skills
