We seek a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to develop high-quality, engaging instructional content for a Solar and Electrical Fundamentals course. The SME will collaborate with a cross-functional team to create accurate, standards-aligned interactive media and learning materials covering PV systems, electrical basics, energy storage, and comprehensive workplace safety (including OSHA regulations).
Course Topics
The curriculum encompasses :
- PV and Electrical Fundamentals : PV Systems (Introduction, Components, Types), Electricity Fundamentals, Basic Circuit Concepts, Circuit Design, System Protection, and Environmental / Design Considerations.
- Energy Storage and Power : Battery Systems, Energy Storage, Generators, and Backup Power.
- Workplace Safety (OSHA Aligned) : Introduction to OSHA, PPE, Hazard Communication, and safety protocols for Walking / Working Surfaces, Ladders / Scaffolding, Electrical, Battery, Fire, Construction, Materials Handling, Machines, and Bloodborne Pathogens.
Key Responsibilities
Content Development : Write clear, accurate, and engaging storyboards and course materials for interactive media, translating complex technical concepts into accessible learning experiences.Subject Matter Expertise : Ensure technical accuracy, alignment with industry standards ( NEC, OSHA ), and current practices in solar energy and workplace safety.Collaboration : Work with instructional designers and stakeholders, integrating feedback to ensure content relevance and impact.Platform Development : Develop media resources within the client's learning management and other platforms.Qualifications -
Required :
Demonstrated expertise in PV systems, electrical systems, and / or occupational safety .Familiarity with OSHA regulations and NEC standards .Experience in technical writing or curriculum development , specifically with interactive multimedia instructional resources .Ability to communicate complex concepts clearly.Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field (e.g., Electrical Engineering, Occupational Safety, Renewable Energy).Relevant Certification (e.g., NABCEP , OSHA 30, CSP).Preferred :
Experience in K-12 curriculum development or content review.Prior experience teaching, training, or mentoring technical subjects.Skills :
Strong analytical and conceptual thinking, excellent writing / editing skills, experience storyboarding instructional media, and effective collaboration.
