About the Digital Government Advisory Team

KPMG India’s Digital Government Advisory (DGA) practice helps government bodies modernize public services through technology. It offers strategic consulting, digital architecture, and sector-specific solutions across areas like transport, water, justice, and finance. The team enables large-scale e-Governance, data analytics, and automation to improve efficiency and citizen experience.

About the Role :

We are seeking a highly analytical and experienced professional to support the Finance Department in enhancing tax and non-tax revenue systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in public finance, with a focus on revenue management and policy analysis.

Key Responsibilities :

• Conduct in-depth analysis of public finance systems, particularly in the context of tax and non-tax revenue.
• Evaluate the constitutional powers related to taxation, including the scope for new taxes or merging existing ones, through :
• Economic studies
• Legal and statutory reviews
• Comparative analysis with other states / countries
• Review the legal and operational framework of all state-imposed taxes (excluding GST) to :
• Identify opportunities to expand the tax base
• Recommend improvements in tax collection and administration
• Suggest changes to enhance revenue realization and reduce outstanding dues
• Analyze the current tax collection mechanisms, including :
• Compliance processes
• Cost of compliance and collection
• Taxpayer challenges
• Ease of Doing Business
• Propose reforms to improve :
• Departmental structure
• Use of technology
• Organizational efficiency
