About the Role :
We are seeking a dynamic, results-oriented Vice President or Director of Logistics Sales and Business Development to lead and drive the growth of our supply chain and logistics business across
India. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of freight forwarding, W&D, transportation, etc. and will be responsible for building and executing a comprehensive business development
strategy to expand our presence in the market. This is a leadership role requiring strong strategic vision, exceptional sales expertise, and the ability to build and inspire high-performance teams.
As VP or Direcor of Sales and Business Development, you will be at the forefront of driving business expansion, fostering client relationships, and developing a high-performing sales culture. Your
leadership will be critical to accelerating our growth trajectory across multiple service areas in the logistics and supply chain industry.
Key Responsibilities :
- Strategic Leadership & Vision :
- Define and implement a comprehensive business development strategy to grow the company's footprint across India, focusing on key service areas such as freight forwarding, warehousing &
- distribution, transportation, etc.
- Develop sales and business strategies, setting clear targets for growth, profitability, and market share expansion.
- Drive market penetration by identifying new business opportunities, strategic partnerships, and potential geographies.
- Sales Leadership & Execution :
- Lead, motivate, and manage the sales team across the country, ensuring alignment with business goals and providing guidance on sales processes and performance.
- Oversee the development and execution of sales plans and pipeline management, ensuring growth targets and KPIs are met or exceeded.
- Establish and maintain key client relationships, cultivating opportunities for cross-selling and upselling across different logistics services.
- Team Development & Management :
- Build and lead a high-performance sales team, providing coaching, mentorship, and professional development to ensure continuous skill enhancement and achievement of sales objectives.
- Foster a collaborative and accountable team culture, driving a sense of ownership and results-oriented mindset among all sales staff.
- Lead recruitment, training, and performance management processes for the sales team.
- Market Analysis & Strategy Development :
- Conduct market research and competitive analysis to stay ahead of trends, customer needs, and industry developments, ensuring the company maintains a competitive edge.
- Create pricing strategies and value propositions that resonate with the market and drive customer acquisition.
- Develop and implement go-to-market strategies for new product or service offerings.
- Relationship Management & Client Acquisition :
- Identify and target key accounts and large-scale clients, negotiate contracts, and close deals that contribute to the company's revenue and growth goals.
- Establish long-term relationships with key clients, ensuring customer satisfaction and the ability to meet their evolving supply chain needs.
- Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and client meetings to enhance brand visibility and networking.
- Performance & Results Management :
- Monitor and report on sales performance, providing regular updates to senior leadership on business development activities, pipeline progress, and financial performance.
- Hold the sales team accountable for achieving goals and ensure alignment with overall organizational objectives.
- Implement a data-driven approach to sales reporting, using CRM systems and analytics to track, measure, and optimize sales effectiveness.
Qualifications & Experience :
Experience :
20+ years of experience in business development and sales leadership roles within the supply chain and logistics industry (freight forwarding, W&D, transportation, etc.).Proven track record of successfully leading business development teams and achieving revenue growth, preferably in a PAN-India context.Strong network within the logistics and supply chain industry, with established relationships with key clients and stakeholders.Skills :Exceptional strategic thinking and ability to translate vision into actionable business plans.Expertise in B2B sales processes, contract negotiation, and deal closure.Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and drive results across a diverse and dispersed team.Strong financial acumen with experience in budget management, sales forecasting, and pricing strategies.Proficient in CRM tools and business intelligence platforms to track sales performance and market trends.Education :A bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or related fields is required; an MBA or equivalent postgraduate degree is highly desirable.Personal Attributes :Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.Entrepreneurial mindset, driven by growth and a passion for building high-performing teams.Results-oriented, with a strong focus on achieving measurable outcomes in a competitive environment.Skills Required
