Job Title :

Groundwater cum Mathematical Modeller

Location : Kolkata

Duration : 12 Man-Months

Project Summary

The project focuses on

comprehensive groundwater and hydrological modelling

to support sustainable water resources management. It aims to address challenges related to

flood management, salinity intrusion, and aquifer sustainability

through advanced mathematical modelling and hydro-morphological studies. The selected expert will play a key role in collecting, analyzing, and interpreting hydrological and aquifer data, developing

1D–2D coupled hydro-morpho-dynamic models with sediment transport modules , and assessing technical solutions for groundwater resource mapping and salinity reduction.

This initiative will contribute significantly to

resilient water resource planning

and the long-term protection of critical aquifer systems.

Qualification & Experience Requirements

Education : Graduation in

Civil Engineering

Post-Graduation in

Hydrology / Water Resources / Modelling

Experience : Minimum

10 years

of relevant professional experience in :

Hydrological studies and hydro-morphological assessments

Mathematical modelling for groundwater and surface water systems

Major groundwater resources projects, preferably in

flood management or salinity intrusion

Proficiency in software tools such as

MIKE 1D & 2D

and / or

HEC-HMS 1D & 2D

Strong background in

mapping, designing, calibration, and validation of hydro-models

Roles & Responsibilities

Collect, compile, and analyze available

hydrological and aquifer data

Review and validate

field survey data

on a day-to-day basis

Develop

1D–2D coupled hydro-morpho-dynamic models

with sediment transport integration

Calibrate and validate models to ensure reliability and accuracy

Assess the

technical feasibility of groundwater mapping solutions

Explore and recommend techniques for

salinity reduction and groundwater management

Prepare technical reports and present findings to stakeholders.
