Job Summary
The primary role of the System Administrator is to maintain, upgrade, and manage our software, hardware, and networks. The person should be able to diagnose and resolve problems quickly. This position aims to keep our technology infrastructure running smoothly and efficiently.
Roles and responsibilities
- Manage user accounts (create / modify / delete), permissions, and access rights to ensure appropriate access to resources.
- Install and configure operating systems, applications, and software updates to set up new hardware, including computing devices, servers, workstations, and peripheral devices.
- Oversee the functionality of network components such as routers, switches, and firewalls and ensure network file systems are correctly configured and accessible to authorized users.
- Provide technical assistance for hardware, software, and network-related issues.
- Server backup and recovery to prevent data loss.
- Implement and configure SQL Server Always On Availability Groups for high availability and disaster recovery solutions.
- Continuously monitor the health and performance of Always On Availability Groups, including the replication latency, data synchronization, and failover performance.
- Ensure minimal downtime and ensure high availability of critical databases.
- Configure and manage security settings for Always on Availability Groups, including encryption, authentication, and authorization.
- SQL Server Clustering : Understanding of Windows Server Failover Clustering (WSFC) as it relates to Always On configuration.
- Database Security : Experience in configuring SSL, encryption, and managing database security for Always on Availability Groups.
- Analyze existing SQL database / queries for performance improvements.
- Regularly check system logs, CPU usage, memory usage, and network performance to ensure optimal functioning.
- Conduct regular security audits to identify vulnerabilities and ensure compliance with security policies.
Requirements
2+ years’ experience in system administration and SQL databaseAssociate or Bachelor's degree in a related fieldAdvanced knowledge of system vulnerabilities and security issuesExcellent understanding of SQL database and Microsoft SQL Server.Strong proficiency in SQL and database concepts
