Job Summary / Objective
The Sourcing Engineer / Commodity Manager is responsible for managing end-to-end sourcing activities for assigned commodities and components. The role focuses on supplier identification, cost management, contract negotiations, and long-term supplier development while ensuring quality, delivery, and compliance standards are met. The position drives cost optimization, risk mitigation, and supplier performance improvement aligned with organizational sourcing strategies and business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Sourcing
- Review user requirements and gather relevant data to define sourcing needs.
- Float RFQs, evaluate quotations, and prepare commercial summaries through QCS.
- Develop and execute negotiation strategies to achieve competitive pricing and terms.
- Conduct business reviews and finalize supplier awards based on cost, quality, and capability.
- Serve as the escalation point for supply-related issues and disruptions.
- Implement multi-sourcing strategies for risk mitigation and cost optimization.
- Lead and manage supplier agreements, ensuring compliance with organizational objectives.
- Cost Management
- Drive continuous cost reduction initiatives through negotiation, design optimization, and alternate sourcing.
- Execute volumetric negotiations based on demand projections and forecast analysis.
- Identify and develop strategic cost-competitive suppliers for long-term collaboration.
- Manage the complete RFQ cycle for BOM (Bill of Materials) items, ensuring timely and effective execution.
- Stakeholder Management
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand project and business requirements.
- Plan sourcing activities in alignment with project timelines and deliverables.
- Participate in weekly progress reviews, program updates, and technology roadmap discussions.
- Supplier Development & Management
- Identify, evaluate, and onboard potential suppliers aligned with company objectives.
- Manage commodity spend through detailed spend analysis, SWOT evaluation, and supplier segmentation.
- Conduct quarterly and annual business reviews with key suppliers to assess performance, quality, and improvement plans.
- Audit & Statutory Compliance
- Develop and implement SOPs to strengthen sourcing systems and ensure process standardization.
- Maintain system hygiene and documentation in compliance with internal and external audit requirements.
- Drive continuous improvement and governance within the sourcing function.

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Production, Electronics, or Electrical Engineering (mandatory).Postgraduate qualification preferred (MBA in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or Imports & Exports Management).Skills Required
