Job descriptionLead the procurement activities for API products in collaboration with the planning team for all sites. Ensure material meets specifications and all compliances are followed during the transportation process and material sourced from qualified vendors. Drive the global procurement for various categories of critical materials (for API segment) including Solvents, raw materials, reagents, agri / plant-based materials (Fermentation), key starting materials to ensure compliant, and uninterrupted supplies in the required quantities at best prices in line with required quality standards. Handle large / Bulk solvent procurement and work with overseas / Chinese vendors for all the import activities. Ensure all materials are procured on a monthly / quarterly basis from approved vendors. Build and maintain relationships with manufacturers and suppliers to understand the changing market dynamics. Lead the implementation of procurement and negotiation strategies for API procurement based on nature of product, criticality, spend and market dynamics to ensure availability of products at the best price. Support department head in devising criteria for shortlisting material by analyzing price variability for short and long-term contracts. Develop procurement pricing strategies based on clean sheet costing, indexing, data analytics, market intelligence etc., seek approval for the same by the Head Procurement and participate in key negotiations with the vendors and order finalization. Ensure all procurements are done as per procurement policy and required documentation is completed. Partner with quality and production teams for testing activities to ensure all procured materials meets quality specifications. Facilitate vendor audits and oversee regulatory compliance in co-ordination with QC, CQA, to ensure adherence to regulatory standards as applicable. Coordinate with BD and planning team to gather intelligence on procurement insights and to anticipate cost escalations and materials unavailability.
