Operations Specialist - Business Steering Solutions
POSITION PURPOSE :
Responsible for complete, timely and qualitative execution of end-to-end RFH Business Steering Solutions activities (according to the defined activity split) within the assigned Focus Group (Country Group Cluster).
Ensure reliability of the financial statements in his / her scope of responsibility in accordance with group standards and subgroup reporting requirement. Implement the best practice in relevant process and ensure SAP system design in line with Group & Subgroup standards to meet the business steering requirement from local and global.
Lead internal projects within the team and contribute to complexity reduction initiatives.

1. Overall
Be and act as the expert within assigned focus group (Country Group cluster) responsibility in the team ensuring quality in analysis and decision support. Provide support & functional guidance to the Senior Experts under his / her assigned focus group responsibility. Act as deputy and back-up support to the VFM / PAIV Analyst for functional topics under his / her assigned focus group (and as 2nd level back-up support and performs Regional Finance Hub activities in cases the LE caretaker and 1st-level back-up are not available.Lead internal projects within the team and contribute to complexity reduction initiatives.Support at and to expert communities through global calls and other media.Interact with key business functions (e.g. Controlling, Procurement, Product Supply, etc.) to ensure proper accounting for the particular areas of operation.Liaise with all GBS centers regarding closing issues and to implement desired and necessary processes and changes.Support external & internal audits ensuring prompt response to audit requests and perform appropriate ICS controls in his / her own area of responsibility.Support local as well small global projects, legal entities and system mergers, acquisitions or divestitures for country group cluster in scopeSupport the overall closing process for country group cluster in scope, review the closing results and follow up with divisions and function. Give expert support regarding assigned Legal Entities' closing process and perform manual postings where applicable.Understand the business of all Divisions of Country Group Cluster Legal Entities, business models, products they manufacture and sell, distribution models and their impact on Bayer's financials (Balance Sheet and Income Statement). Contribute in gaining business efficiency, accuracy and reduce complexity by recommending improvements through various means (e.g. digitalization and leveraging Data Analytics).Contribute in Global Knowledge Management by conducting global trainings and sharing functional experiences.2. Value Flow Management
Together with the LE caretakers within the focus group, be the first contact of "local business" (mainly controlling) on topics related to Value Flow Management (such as but not limited to : requirements for change in cost value flows (e.g. in CCA, PCA and COPA), proper recognition of costs up to P&L following Bayer Management Accounting Directive, etc.) for assigned legal entities and / or legal entities within country group cluster.Act as 1st level escalation point for topics related to Value Flow ManagementProvide support & functional guidance to the Senior Experts in the area of Value Flow Management for legal entities under his / her assigned focus group. Act as 2nd level back-up support and performs BSS activities for Value Flow Management in cases the LE caretaker and 1st-level back-up are not available.Drive the focus group's performance of Value Flow Content Monitoring checks (e.g. Income Statement Plausibility checks, CC Hierarchy Plausibility checks, CO Object Life Cycle Review, Technical CC Monitoring, BC Corrections Monitoring, Class 6 FI Monitoring, Prime Cost Monitoring and Reimbursements w / o Trading partner check) including communication of findings and corrections / adjustments if necessary for countries within the focus group on a regular and timely manner; perform the same for the legal entities being handled.Give expert support regarding assigned LEs and LEs within country group cluster closing process. Review the closing results and follow up with divisions and functions. Perform manual postings where applicable and check the content of cost center result during closingCreate ticket / request for new and adjusted master data (Cost Center, internal order, WBS Element, cost element, cycle / cost allocation) and inform businessInitiate / create accounting posting request (WPA / BayJED) for postings to Overhead Management including possible corrections in Income Statement and Segment Reporting.Contribute in Global Knowledge Management by conducting global trainings and sharing functional experiences.3. Product Accounting (PA) and Inventory Valuation
Together with the LE caretakers within the focus group, support Stakeholders (Controlling, Production etc.) on topics related to Product Costing / Inventory Valuation (such as but not limited to : Proper Inventory Valuation, proper recognition of COGS, Standard Prices and PUP, Variances, Over / underutilization, Tariffs / Activity Prices, BSA, NRV, etc.) for assigned legal entities and / or legal entities under his / her assigned focus group.Act as 1st level escalation point for topics related to Product Costing / Inventory ValuationProvide support & functional guidance to the Senior Experts in the area of Product Accounting / Inventory Valuation for legal entities under his / her assigned focus group.Perform PAIV activities such as but not limited to :Act as main contact of GFO and Business contacts on activities related to PS Budget (example : yearly standard price calculation, set-up of plan cycles, etc.).Check the results of process order settlement and follow up variances on production orders and purchase pricesCheck and change tariffs / activity pricesGet and enter start-up and downtime cost, define normal capacity and fixed / variable splitIdentify and check net realizable valueCheck and verify PAIV closing results and give business inputPerform check of result of the inventory stocktaking in SAPDrive the focus group's analysis of the Income Statement's Cost of Goods Sold (COGS2a, COGS2b, COGS below Mi2b) and Balance Sheet specifically Inventories including communication of findings and corrections / adjustments if necessary for legal entities within the country group cluster on a regular and timely manner; perform the same for the legal entities being handled.Support external & internal audit and perform ICS controls in his / her own area of responsibility. Support in delivering timely and quality complex audit reports (example : COGS reconciliation report, manufacturing expense report, etc) for countries / division in scope within assigned Country Group cluster, prepare and analyze, if necessary, perform the activities for the assigned Legal Entities.Contribute in Global Knowledge Management by conducting global trainings and sharing functional experiences.4. Service Accounting
Perform service accounting activities of RFH BSS in accordance with defined activity splitPerform specialized ad hoc support and project support specific to own area of expertiseProvide support & functional guidance to the Senior Experts in the area of Service Accounting for legal entities under his / her assigned focus group. Act as 2nd level back-up support and performs BSS activities for Service Accounting in cases the LE caretaker and 1st-level back-up are not available.Contribute in Global Knowledge Management by conducting global trainings and sharing functional experiences.5. Commercial Accounting
