📝 About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Azure Virtual Desktop SME to provide deep technical leadership and hands-on expertise in managing and optimizing our global AVD environment. This role goes beyond greenfield deployments — the focus is on operational excellence, automation, monitoring, and cost optimization of an enterprise-scale VDI estate.

🔍 Key Responsibilities

• Lead operations of domain-joined and Entra ID-joined AVD host pools , ensuring secure and compliant configurations
• Implement and optimize FSLogix profile management with high availability and performance tuning
• Design and automate session host lifecycle management (build, patch, scale, retire) using PowerShell, Terraform, and CI / CD pipelines (GitLab / Azure DevOps)
• Manage image lifecycle and patching workflows for both persistent and non-persistent environments
• Implement scaling strategies (VMSS Flex, scaling scripts, Logic Apps, Automation Accounts) to optimize performance and cost
• Configure and troubleshoot Azure networking, NSGs, DNS, private endpoints, and routing in support of AVD
• Integrate monitoring and reporting via Log Analytics, KQL queries, and custom dashboards
• Ensure security controls including Conditional Access, MFA, and least-privilege identity design (PIM, role assignments)
• Provide incident response and advanced troubleshooting for high-uptime SLA-bound environments
• Partner with cross-functional teams (security, infra, compliance) to deliver robust AVD governance

💡 Skills & Qualifications

✅ 5+ years of hands-on experience in Azure and cloud-based VDI

✅ Deep technical expertise with Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) in production-scale deployments

✅ Strong knowledge of FSLogix design, deployment, and troubleshooting

✅ Advanced PowerShell scripting and automation experience

✅ Proficiency with Terraform and CI / CD pipelines (GitLab CI / CD with OIDC or Azure DevOps)

✅ Strong Azure networking background : VNet peering, DNS, NSGs, load balancers, private endpoints

✅ Familiar with Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, KQL for operational insights

✅ Understanding of identity and access management (Entra ID, Conditional Access, MFA, PIM)

✅ Experience managing persistent and non-persistent AVD architectures

✅ Comfortable operating in production environments with tight SLAs and global teams
