Overview
The 1099-K Process Expert is responsible for managing and executing all activities related to IRS Form 1099-K reporting. This includes data collection, validation, reconciliation, and submission to ensure compliance with U.S. tax regulations. The role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a deep understanding of U.S. tax laws related to payment card and third-party network transactions.
Responsibilities
- 1099-K Reporting :
- Oversee the end-to-end process of 1099-K form generation and submission.
- Ensure accurate reporting of gross payment transactions for applicable vendors and merchants.
- Coordinate with U.S. tax teams and external vendors for timely filing.
- Data Management :
- Extract and validate transaction data from ERP systems and payment platforms.
- Reconcile discrepancies between internal records and third-party data sources.
- Compliance & Audit :
- Stay updated on IRS regulations and ensure compliance with current 1099-K requirements.
- Prepare documentation for internal and external audits related to tax reporting.
- Stakeholder Collaboration :
- Liaise with internal departments and external stakeholders (banks, payment processors).
- Provide guidance and support to teams on 1099-K related queries.
- Process Improvement :
- Identify and implement process enhancements to improve accuracy and efficiency.
- Develop SOPs and training materials for the 1099-K process
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field (CPA or equivalent preferred).5+ years of experience in U.S. tax reporting, specifically 1099-K.Strong knowledge of IRS regulations and tax compliance.Experience working in a Shared Service Center or multinational environment.Proficiency in Excel, ERP systems (Oracle) and Tax - OneSourceExcellent communication and analytical skills.Preferred Skills
Familiarity with other 1099 forms (e.g., 1099-MISC, 1099-NEC).Experience with automation tools and data analytics platforms.Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work under pressure.Skills Required
