To design, manage and continually adapt the library system—comprising people, spaces, collections, and services—to support and energize inquiry-based learning, multiliteracies, curriculum development, and student well-being across the school.
Roles & Responsibilities
Key / Primary Responsibilities of the Role
Library / ian System Management :
- Design, manage, and evolve the physical and virtual library environment to promote access, inquiry, and inclusion.
- Develop and maintain diverse and inclusive collections (print, digital, media) that reflect the curriculum, student interests, and global perspectives.
- Ensure cataloguing and circulation systems are current and efficiently managed.
Curriculum Support & Collaboration :
Collaborate with teachers to plan and co-deliver lessons integrating ATL, ATT, multiliteracies, and inquiry.Participate in curriculum development meetings and contribute to planning units and resources.Support and promote academic integrity through training and resource development.Inquiry & Information Literacy :
Teach students research skills, critical evaluation of sources, digital citizenship, and referencing.Facilitate student-initiated inquiry through personalized research support.Offer just-in-time support for information needs during classroom or independent work.Multiliteracies & Multilingual Support :
Promote reading and multimodal literacy development across all age groups.Curate and provide resources supporting multilingualism, including personal and functional languages of students.Community Engagement & Professional Development :
Create participatory, student-centered spaces that encourage self-expression and cultural exchange.Coordinate with external libraries, vendors, and networks to enrich the learning experience.Engage in continuous professional development; support staff training in resource and technology use.Secondary Responsibilities
Pastoral Engagement & Student Life :
Support pastoral care and student well-being by providing safe, inclusive, and quiet or active zones as needed.Collaborate with the counselor and educators to assist students with academic, personal, and emotional growth.Support for Events & Activities :
Organize reading weeks, author visits, research fairs, and literacy-based co-curricular programs.Participate in and support school events, exhibitions, and student-led initiatives.School & Network Contribution :
Contribute to school-wide ICT integration, knowledge-sharing platforms, and knowledge management systems.Actively support Patrika in Education (PIE) and group-wide education initiatives involving resource design and student learning.Key Success Metrics
Student engagement in inquiry, reading, and resource use.Integration of librarian services into curriculum planning and execution.Development of a multiliteracies-friendly learning environment.Feedback from students, teachers, and leadership on library effectiveness.Participation in PD and contribution to institutional learning goals.
