Position Summary

Job Description : Fund Manager – SME Fund

The Fund Manager will be responsible for the overall management, fundraising, investment, and performance of the SME Fund. This includes raising capital from investors, sourcing and evaluating SME investment opportunities, managing the fund’s portfolio, and ensuring sustainable growth and returns. The role requires strong financial expertise, fundraising ability, and deep understanding of the SME sector. ____________________________________________________________________________ Key Responsibilities

Fundraising & Investor Relations

  • Lead fundraising efforts by identifying, engaging, and securing commitments from institutional investors, DFIs, high-net-worth individuals, and other funding partners
  • Develop investor pitches, proposals, and marketing materials to effectively communicate the fund’s vision and performance
  • Maintain strong relationships with existing investors through transparent reporting and regular engagement
  • Fund Management & Strategy
  • Develop and implement the overall fund strategy and investment thesis
  • Oversee fund operations to ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and
  • governance frameworks
  • Manage capital deployment and ensure optimal portfolio allocation
  • Provide regular performance reports and strategic updates to the Board and
  • investors
  • Investment Management
  • Source, screen, and evaluate SME investment opportunities aligned with the fund’s objectives.
  • Conduct comprehensive due diligence, including financial, operational, and legal assessments.
  • Structure, negotiate, and execute investment transactions.
  • Manage exits and ensure attractive returns for investors.

Portfolio Development & Monitoring

  • Partner with portfolio SMEs to enhance growth, governance, and operational performance.
  • Monitor company KPIs and provide regular performance and impact reports.
  • Identify risks and implement mitigation strategies across the portfolio.
  • Stakeholder Engagement
  • Build networks with SMEs, industry associations, government agencies, and development finance institutions.
  • Represent the fund in forums, conferences, and industry events.
  • Collaborate with ecosystem partners to strengthen SME financing and growth
  • opportunities. __________________________________________________________________________ Qualifications & Experience
  • Postgraduate degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in private equity, venture capital, SME financing, or
  • investment banking.
  • Proven track record in fundraising and investor relationship management
  • Experience in managing SME-focused funds or portfolios.
  • Strong deal structuring, financial modelling, and negotiation skills.
