Primary title : Director of Storage Software Engineering
Role & Responsibilities
- Define technical strategy and product roadmap for storage software—block, object, and file services—ensuring alignment with business goals and customer SLAs.
- Lead and scale multiple engineering teams (architecture, kernel / driver, reliability, QA) to deliver production-grade releases on time and with high quality.
- Drive architecture and design reviews for distributed storage, replication, snapshotting, tiering, and data-protection features; own trade-offs for performance, cost, and reliability.
- Partner with hardware, firmware, and silicon teams to co-design storage optimizations (NVMe, NVMe-oF, RDMA) and validate performance at system level.
- Establish engineering best practices—CI / CD, performance benchmarking, observability, incident response—and mentor senior engineers and architects.
- Represent the product and roadmap to customers and partners; lead technical due diligence, escalations, and cross-functional go-to-market initiatives.
Skills & Qualifications
Must-Have
20+ years of proven leadership delivering commercial storage software products or core storage subsystems.Deep expertise in distributed storage architectures and data-protection mechanisms (replication, erasure coding, snapshots).Strong systems programming background (C / C++) and hands-on experience with Linux kernel internals and driver development.Experience with block, object (S3-compatible), and file storage technologies and their operational requirements.Practical knowledge of storage protocols and fabrics : NVMe-oF, iSCSI, RDMA, and SAN / NAS concepts.Track record of shipping high-performance, highly available systems with rigorous benchmarking and observability.Preferred
Experience contributing to or leading open-source storage projects (Ceph, OpenZFS, etc.).Familiarity with cloud-native storage integration (Kubernetes CSI, S3 gateway architectures) and public cloud storage services.Background working with NAND / NVMe hardware, firmware partners, or storage appliance design.Benefits & Culture Highlights
