A Senior Accountant manages daily accounting operations, ensures GAAP compliance, and prepares monthly/yearly financial statements, reports, and reconciliations. They analyze financial data for forecasting, assist with audits/tax filings, mentor junior staff, and improve internal controls to ensure accuracy.
Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Reporting & Analysis: Prepare, analyze, and interpret monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.General Ledger & Reconciliation: Reconcile sub-ledgers to the general ledger, manage bank statements, and maintain fixed assets.Month-End/Year-End Close: Lead closing procedures, ensuring accurate revenue and expense recognition.Compliance & Audit: Ensure adherence to GAAP, assist with internal/external audits, and manage tax reporting.Process Improvement: Review accounting procedures, implement new systems, and strengthen internal controls.Supervision: Mentor and review the work of junior accountants or accounting assistants. Required Qualifications & SkillsEducation: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA preferred.Experience: 3–5+ years of progressive accounting experience.Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in MS Excel (pivot tables, v-lookups) and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle, Tally).Knowledge: Deep understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).Soft Skills: Strong analytical abilities, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills.
