Job description
Key Responsibilities :
Perform load flow, short circuit, transient stability, and protection coordination studies using standard power system simulation tools.
Conduct Grid Impact and Interconnection Studies for new projects and assess their impact on the existing power network.
Design and evaluate substation layouts (AIS / GIS), single line diagrams, equipment sizing, and protection schemes.
Support concept-to-commissioning activities for large electrical infrastructure and substation projects.
Ensure compliance with national and international grid codes (CEA, IEC, IEEE, etc.).
Prepare technical reports, design documentation, and system study reports for internal and external stakeholders.
Collaborate with transmission / distribution utilities, EPC contractors, and consultants during various project phases.
Evaluate grid integration requirements for renewable energy projects (solar, wind, hybrid).
Participate in technical reviews, risk assessments, and design optimization discussions.
Required Skills & Competencies :
Strong understanding of Power System Analysis principles and electrical network modeling.
Experience with tools such as ETAP, PSS®E, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, PSCAD, or MATLAB Simulink.
Working knowledge of substation design (up to 400kV or higher) and grid connectivity standards.
Ability to interpret protection schemes, relay coordination, and SCADA / automation systems.
Capable of working effectively within a multi-disciplinary, international team. Candidate will be working with US teams and should have exposure dealing with international clients.
Excellent analytical, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
Good communication and stakeholder management abilities.
Qualification & Experience :
B.E. / B.Tech in Electrical / Power Systems Engineering (M.E. / M.Tech preferred).
6 – 10 years of experience in power systems analysis and substation projects with a leading MNC.
Prior exposure to transmission / distribution utility projects, renewable integration studies, or grid impact assessments preferred.
