About Impact Measurement And Advisory

Sattva's Impact Measurement and Advisory team conducts rigorous participatory evaluations that help in evidence-based decision making and action for funders and social sector practitioners. Sattva believes that evaluations ensure that social programs are operationally capable, using well-defined systems and processes, financially disciplined, and are tracking progress against intended outputs and outcomes. IMA uses mixed methods of research including qualitative and quantitative approaches for data collection using a 360-degree perspective gathering insights from all direct and indirect stakeholders associated with the social program. Sattva's IMA has carried out 85 evaluations in thematic areas such as agriculture and allied activities, education and livelihood, skill development and entrepreneurship, water and sanitation, women empowerment, and natural resource management. These evaluations are implemented across the lifecycle of a social program including needs assessment, program evaluation, social audit, impact assessment, brand perception, and social return on investment. The actionable insights from the studies have informed program strategy, program operationalization inputs, and ecosystem learning for philanthropic foundations, corporates, corporate foundations, non-profits, multilateral and impact ecosystems across India, Africa, and South Asia.

The Opportunity

The Consultant will be an integral member of Sattva's Impact Measurement and Advisory (IMA) team, embedded within the Saamuhika Shakti project. Saamuhika Shakti, is a Bengaluru based collective impact initiative that is supported by H&M Foundation anchored by Sattva Consulting as the backbone organisation and implemented by a consortium of 10 partners. The collective aims to address the multi-dimensional challenges experienced by informal waste pickers, the most vulnerable actors in Bangalore's urban waste management value chain - in areas pertaining to income generation, access to inclusive livelihood opportunities, education, health, safety, gender based violence, dignity and market innovation. As the backbone organization, Sattva leads the initiative's Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) system, including shared measurement, evidence generation, and learning synthesis.

The role offers an opportunity to work at the intersection of research, systems change, and program learning, contributing directly to shaping how collective impact is operationalized in urban development contexts.

The individual will support the design and operationalization of two ongoing learning studies, one to gauge the ongoing evolution of the collective and the second which intends to map signals of systems change alongside the MEL Lead, and Project Lead. The role requires strong grounding in qualitative research, operations research, and familiarity with social programs and collaborative governance models. Additionally, the individual will get a chance to contribute to and learn from all the parallel tracks that the backbone undertakes ranging from strategy building, managing partnerships and diverse range of stakeholders, and contributing to meaningful thought leadership.
