Dean – Student Welfare - Role Overview
The Dean of Student Welfare (DSW) is a senior academic and administrative leader responsible for ensuring the holistic development and well-being of students at BML Munjal University. The DSW fosters a vibrant campus life by promoting co-curricular and extracurricular engagement, initiating proactive welfare measures, and upholding a student-centric governance framework. The position plays a pivotal role in enhancing the overall student experience, well-being, leadership, and ethical citizenship across the University.
Scope of Responsibilities
The Dean of Student Welfare will oversee a broad portfolio of departments and functions integral to student life, including but not limited to :
- Extra- & Co-Curricular Activities : Plan, coordinate, and supervise student clubs, societies, cultural events, and governance forums.
- Student Council : Oversee elections and guide the Council’s functioning and initiatives.
- Hostel Operations : Ensure safe, inclusive, and well-managed residential environments.
- Sports & Fitness : Promote physical well-being through structured sports programs and gym facilities.
- Mental Health & Wellness : Supervise the Wellness Centre, counselling services, and mental health initiatives.
- Medical Centre : Ensure the availability of quality healthcare and preventive programs on campus.
- Student Discipline : Uphold fairness, empathy, and integrity through transparent conduct and grievance systems.
- Welfare Initiatives : Drive inclusivity, leadership development, financial assistance, and student welfare schemes.
Key Result Areas (KRAs)
1. Student Engagement & Collaboration
Organize inter-departmental activities to encourage community building and cross-disciplinary engagement.Enhance student participation in co-curricular and extracurricular initiatives.Establish and monitor a Student Net Promoter Score (NPS) to measure satisfaction and campus experience.2. Student Governance & Leadership
Strengthen student representation in University governance structures.Conduct fair Student Council elections and ensure effective functioning.Facilitate student–faculty dialogue forums and publish an Annual Student Governance Report .3. Entrepreneurship & Innovation
Encourage student participation in entrepreneurship and innovation programs in collaboration with university centres.4. Civic & Community Engagement
Lead community service and civic engagement initiatives, ensuring measurable annual service contributions.Collaborate with NGOs and local bodies for sustained impact (e.G., village adoption programs).Publish an Annual Civic Engagement Report highlighting outcomes and future goals.5. Sustainability & Partnerships
Develop partnerships with academic institutions, industries, and NGOs to promote sustainability and social responsibility.Guide student-led projects aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) .Desired Qualifications and Experience
Postgraduate degree in a relevant discipline (Applied Sciences, Engineering, Social Sciences, or Education preferred).Minimum 15 years of academic experience , including at least 7 years in student affairs, governance, or welfare roles .Proven leadership, administrative, and communication skills.Demonstrated commitment to ethical leadership, inclusivity, and student-centered learning.
