The Opportunity | Senior Engineer
In this role you will be working in the design engineering team on Solenoid valve and Sensor product lines, supporting NPI, production, resolving materials obsolesce issues for commercial and Aerospace and Military applications.
The ideal candidate for this role will have experience of the aerospace industry and be competent in mechanical design, materials knowledge with ideally some experience in pressure retaining products such as valves solenoids, and sensors. Some basic knowledge of electronics and PCB layouts is beneficial but not essential.
Required skills to include :
Materials knowledge, mechanical design, analytical skills (FEA & Hand calculations), report writing, reliability analysis FMEA and FMECA, 3D modelling and drafting using Solidworks excellent verbal / written communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Support engineering projects by generating FEA reports (static and dynamic) and making recommendations to improve structural integrity.
- Provide materials and treatments knowledge to support obsolescence challenges and ongoing REACH compliance, with varnishes, potting’s, adhesives etc
- Support operations with any manufacturing / quality issues making technical judgements to approve disposition of non-conformances, engineering change requests.
- Generation and approval of reliability reports using NPRD-95 and similar sources to generate MTBF predictions.
- Generation and approval of FMEA and FMECA reports.
- Lead and contribute to DMFEA and support manufacturing PFMEA’s.
- Generation of manufacturing drawings, requiring high proficiency with ISO practices, GDT, tolerance analysis and best drawing practices.
- Support risk mitigations activities, write test procedures / reports and design of risk mitigation hardware
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s or master’s degree educated within a Mechanical Engineering or Materials Science.5 years minimum of prior experience industry.Fluent in English (verbally and written).Solidworks SimulationExperience and knowledge of soldering, welding, and brazingExperience of precision manufacturing processes such as turning and milling is beneficial but not essential.Altium for PCB design is beneficial but not essential
