Description and Requirements

We are seeking an exceptional Database Migration Architect to join our elite cloud transformation practice. As a key technical leader, you will architect and execute complex database migration strategies for leading corporations worldwide. This role combines deep database expertise with cloud architecture knowledge to deliver mission-critical database transformations across major cloud platforms, with a special focus on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

Core Responsibilities :

Database Migration Strategy & Architecture :

Design and architect enterprise-scale database migration solutions from on-premises and multi-cloud environments

Lead technical assessments of complex database landscapes and develop comprehensive migration roadmaps

Architect high-performance, scalable database solutions optimized for cloud environments

Design zero-downtime migration strategies for business-critical database systems

Technical Implementation & Optimization :

Implement advanced database migration solutions using platform-native tools (Google Database Migration Service, AWS DMS, Azure Database Migration Service)

Optimize database performance through sophisticated schema design, indexing, partitioning, and query optimization

Design and implement multi-region high availability and disaster recovery solutions

Develop automated migration frameworks and repeatable methodologies

Security & Compliance Architecture :

Design and implement database security architectures meeting industry standards

Ensure compliance with global regulations (GDPR, HIPAA, SOX, PCI-DSS)

Architect encryption solutions for data at rest and in transit

Develop comprehensive data governance frameworks and security controls

Platform & Technology Leadership :

Lead the adoption of modern database technologies and cloud-native solutions

Guide the implementation of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for database deployments

Architect solutions utilizing advanced features of cloud platforms (Cloud Spanner, AlloyDB, Aurora, Cosmos DB)

Design hybrid and multi-cloud database architectures

Required Qualifications

Technical Expertise :

8+ years of database architecture experience with 5+ years in cloud database migrations

Deep expertise in enterprise database platforms (Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL)

Proven experience with cloud-native database services across major cloud providers

Advanced knowledge of database performance optimization and tuning

Certifications & Education :

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience

Professional certifications (preferred) :

Google Professional Data Engineer

Google Professional Cloud Architect

AWS Database Specialty

Azure Database Administrator Associate

Oracle Certified Master

Platform & Tool Proficiency :

Extensive experience with cloud database migration tools and services

Expertise in database monitoring and management tools

Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Cloud Deployment Manager)

Strong background in data modeling and database design

Leadership & Innovation :

Proven track record leading complex database migration projects

Experience mentoring teams and developing technical capabilities

Strong stakeholder management and communication skills

History of developing innovative solutions for complex database challenges
