Role Summary

We are looking for an experienced mechanical design engineer to lead the design, development and production of mechanical systems and components—from concept to production. This role involves system-level thinking, hands-on CAD modelling, analysis and manufacturing integration, mentoring junior engineers, and collaborating across hardware, manufacturing, quality & supply-chain teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead conceptual, detailed and assembly mechanical design of products / components, including CAD modelling and drawing generation (2D / 3D) for production.
• Define and select materials, manufacturing processes (machining, casting, sheet-metal, injection moulding, forgings, welded fabrications) and ensure designs are cost-effective and manufacturable.
• Perform engineering calculations and simulations : structural, thermal, tolerance stack-up, GD&T, FEA or equivalent to validate design robustness.
• Create and manage Bills of Materials (BOMs), component specifications, vendor drawings, and documentation for New Product Development (NPD) or sustainment projects.
• Engage in the product development lifecycle : concept → embodiment → detail → prototyping → testing → manufacturing handover → field support.
• Review and approve design changes, participate in design reviews, ensure compliance with applicable standards / regulations (industry specific).
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams : manufacturing / operations, sourcing, quality, supply chain, test / validation to ensure design intent is maintained.
• Continuously monitor new technologies, manufacturing innovations and material / process trends, and suggest improvements.
• Coordinate with vendors and clients.
