Senior Backend Software Engineer

Job description3+ years of backend engineering experience. Strong hands-on Node.js with production systems. Solid basics with cloud & devops (AWS, EC2, S3, IAM, basic networking, observability). Understanding of databases (MongoDB or relational) and schema / design trade-offs. Familiar with service design principles, APIs, and mobile app backends. Strong problem-solving, ownership, and communication skills. Nice to have : Java experience, GCP / AWS exposure, prior freelancing / startup experience. About our company
We are a lean team of 9 building mobile apps that improve productivity, health, and personal development.
You will design, build, and scale the backend infrastructure powering our apps. You will own services end-to-end, collaborate closely with the founder / designers, and help shape our technical direction.
What you'll do :
- Design and implement high-quality backend architecture and microservices.
- Build secure, well-documented APIs and data models.
- Set up and manage cloud infrastructure (servers, EC2, S3, networking, CI / CD).
- Create AI workflows (image-based identification, AI chat with production pipelines).
- Choose the tech stack and lead key architectural decisions.
- Optimize performance, reliability, and cost; monitor and debug in production.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to translate product requirements into technical specs.
- Deploy on AWS / GCP and manage cloud resources effectively.
- Contribute to hiring and team building.
