Job description

The E&I Inspection Engineer will be responsible for ensuring that all electrical and instrumentation works, equipment, and systems meet applicable codes, specifications, and project quality standards. The role involves inspection, testing, and documentation of E&I materials and assemblies during various stages of fabrication, installation, and commissioning for heavy engineering equipment and projects.

Key Responsibilities :

1. Inspection & Quality Assurance

  • Carry out inspection and testing of Electrical and Instrumentation items such as motors, switchgear, control panels, junction boxes, field instruments, transmitters, control valves, sensors, and cabling works.
  • Review and verify vendor / subcontractor inspection reports, calibration certificates, and test records.
  • Perform stage inspections during fabrication and installation—ensuring compliance with approved drawings, standards, and Inspection & Test Plans (ITP).
  • Conduct pre-dispatch inspection of electrical panels, wiring, instrumentation skids, and control systems.

2. Documentation & Reporting

  • Prepare inspection reports, non-conformance reports (NCR), and corrective action reports.
  • Maintain proper records of inspection data, calibration logs, and test certificates.
  • Review vendor documents including FAT / SAT procedures, QAP, test protocols, and datasheets.
  • Ensure that inspection documentation aligns with project requirements and client specifications.
  • 3. Standards & Compliance

  • Ensure adherence to relevant codes and standards (IEC, IS, ASTM, IEEE, API, etc.) and client-specific quality requirements.
  • Verify compliance with safety and statutory requirements during inspection and testing.
  • Support quality audits and client inspection visits.
  • 4. Coordination & Communication

  • Coordinate with design, production, and project teams for resolution of quality issues.
  • Interface with clients and third-party inspectors during inspections and FATs.
  • Assist in the preparation of as-built documentation and final quality dossiers.
  • Key Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of E&I systems, wiring diagrams, loop checks, interlocks, and control systems.
  • Hands-on experience with inspection and testing of electrical and instrumentation systems.
  • Familiarity with QA / QC documentation practices, ITPs, FAT / SAT procedures, and calibration processes.
  • Good understanding of industrial codes / standards and project specifications.
  • Excellent documentation and reporting skills.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
  • Qualifications & Experience

  • Qualification : B.E. / B.Tech / Diploma in Electrical, Electronics, or Instrumentation Engineering.
  • Experience : 3–8 years of experience in inspection and quality assurance of E&I systems in heavy engineering, EPC, fabrication, or process equipment manufacturing industries.
  • Certifications (Preferred) : NDT Level II, ISO 9001 : 2015 (Internal Auditor), or equivalent QA certifications.
  • Preferred Industry Background
