The Sleep Technician is responsible for conducting sleep studies, monitoring patients during sleep, and assisting in the diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders. This role requires technical expertise in polysomnography, attention to patient comfort, and collaboration with physicians and clinical staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for sleep studies by explaining procedures and attaching monitoring equipment (EEG, EOG, EMG, ECG, respiratory sensors, etc.).
- Conduct overnight and daytime polysomnography studies, recording data on patient sleep patterns and physiological parameters.
- Monitor patients throughout the study, ensuring safety, comfort, and accurate data collection.
- Analyze sleep data and prepare preliminary reports for review by sleep specialists or physicians.
- Maintain and calibrate sleep lab equipment to ensure accuracy and functionality.
- Document patient information, study results, and observations accurately.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to support diagnosis and treatment planning.
- Follow all infection control, safety, and patient privacy protocols.
