The Senior Administrator provides hands-on day-to-day technical support for Linux & UNIX systems at an experienced level.
The scope of this position includes mission critical support for Linux & UNIX servers, all of which are in our Global Datacenters and Regional Datacenters.
This individual will be part of a team that is responsible for the following operational areas : support, administration, monitoring, and troubleshooting, and participating in technology driven projects to enhance our Responsibilities :
- Provide technical support for Red Hat / CentOS / OEL OS both Physical and Virtual Environments
- Support and administration of 4000+ Linux servers in a highly commercial and agile environment
- Install / Troubleshoot hardware as necessary
- Build servers following standard procedures and deliver them as per agreed timelines
- Work with users to troubleshoot and solve operational issues
- Provide operating system level support to application developers and performing server migrations as necessary
- Responsible for coordinating planned and unplanned outages and potential recovery efforts in the event of system failure
- Building CentOS / RHEL / OEL using the Golden Image and perform Image backups
- Responsible for deploying security patches to the server environment by following standard patching methodology
- Perform Firmware updates as per the recommendation from Vendor
- Monitor system logs, activity and performance on all servers daily
- Utilize ticketing system to address and resolve customer work requests
- Know-how in infrastructure support, data center operations and service delivery
- Understanding of ITIL methodology and effective operations governance methods and processes
- Manage and monitor server uptimes and not impacting SLA levels
- Willingness to work in rotational shifts including US / EU / APAC Business hours
- Join Team meetings & provide updates on Action items / initiatives
- Support VMs in Azure / Cloud environment
- Provide RCA for Sev1 / Sev2 Outages and work towards permanent resolution of the issue
- Experience with Cisco UCS, HP-UX, DELL PowerEdge and HP Proliant hardware preferred
- Document the procedures and follow best practice :
- Bachelors Degree required in Marketing, Business, or related field with a quantitative component
- Total 5+ years of experience in supporting Linux & UNIX systems
- 1-2 years of analytical experience preferred - Retail knowledge a plus.
